DSU Men put up 122 points in win over Providence

Dakota State poured in a season-high 68 points in the first half, cruising to a 122-72 home victory over Providence of Manitoba Saturday afternoon at DSU Fieldhouse.

The Trojans shot a sizzling 25-of-37 from the field, including 11-of-19 on 3-pointers, in the first half. All 15 Dakota State players scored in the game. Lane Tietz poured 20 points on his 7-of-8 field goals, including 5-of-6 from the 3-point arc.  Brayden Pankonen added 17 points with 3 steals. Aiden Jensen scored 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds. 

Dakota State raised their overall record to 4-1, remaining undefeated at home with a 4-0 record this season. Prior to the men’s basketball game, the Trojan honored the family of the late Chief Deputy Sheriff Ken Prorok. The Prorok’s family was presented with a jersey with the ‘KP’ badge on the uniform. Prorok was a former DSU alumni and coach.

DSU heads to the Corn Palace on Wednesday evening for the annual Battle of the Blues. The Trojans face rival Dakota Wesleyan in a men’s and women’s double-header.
