The Dakota State Men’s Basketball squad opened up their season last night, dropping a game to Bethany College 75-65 at the DSU Fieldhouse. It was a nip and tuck first half as Bethany led 40-38 at the break. The second half of the game started out much like the first as both teams traded baskets and the lead was never more than 7  points. DSU Coach Gary Garner says right around the 10 minute mark of the second half, Bethany went on an 8-0 run and DSU was never able to respond.

Gare Ewefada led the way for Dakota State with 14 points while Sawyer Koch off the bench provided a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. DSU shot 38% from the field on the game and had 11 turnovers compared to 12 assists. Bethany outscored Dakota State 8-0 in transition.

DSU at 0-1 will be in action this weekend at the Hastings, Nebraska Tournament with two games scheduled for the weekend.
