DSU drops a pair to Morningside, as Evdos takes in weekly award.

Dakota State University Softball dropped a pair of games to Morningside on Monday in Sioux City. The Trojans held the Mustangs to only 1 hit in the first game of the double-header, but Morningside still managed to scrape across the game’s only run in the first inning of 1-0 shutout win. DSU had four hits in the game, but couldn’t supply any runs in support of Angela Slattery, who pitched a complete game while taking the loss.

The Mustangs offense broke open early in game 2. Morningside scored 12 runs on 10 hits, in a 12-3 win. Michelle Evdos led the Trojans with 2 hits and an RBI. The Freshman from Colorado has a .459 batting average, with a team high 16 doubles and 31 RBI in 35 games. Evdos was also named the Player of the Week by the North Star Athletic Association on Tuesday.

After yesterday’s losses, DSU Softball is now 16-19 on the season. The Trojans will travel to Omaha on Wednesday, to take on the league leaders from Bellevue. Both teams then return to Madison on Thursday for another double-header at Thue Field.
