The Dakota State Women’s Basketball team opened up their season on Saturday night, dropping a home match to Jamestown University 81-75. DSU held a slim advantage at the break 36-34, but the Jimmies outscored the Trojans by nine in the third quarter and then held off DSU down the stretch in the fourth. 

Jessi Giles had 25 points and five rebounds and Savanah Walsdorf had 17 points off the bench. DSU outrebounded Jamestown 41-37 but lost the turnover battle 27-16. Dakota State (0-1) will be back in action this evening with another home game, taking on Briar Cliff University with a 6pm tipoff from the DSU Fieldhouse

 

Competing this weekend at the Hastings (Neb.) Tournament, the Dakota State Men’s Basketball team dropped their second game of the weekend on Saturday, a 99-84 decision to host Hastings. After only putting up 60 points in the loss on Friday, DSU offense found its stride but the defense did not. Four players scored in double-digits for the Trojans, led by Anthony Costello with a double double (21 points 12 rebounds), Josh McGreal had 18 points, Cole Bruhn 15 and Gare Ewefada 13 points. 

DSU turned the ball over 18 times to Hastings 6 and never led in the game. DSU Men are still looking for their first victory of the season (0-3) and will be back in action on Wednesday Night hosting Midland University at the DSU Fieldhouse with a 7pm tip-off.
