Dakota State Adds New Coach To Baseball Staff

The Dakota State Trojans added to their baseball coaching staff yesterday, as head coach Derrion Hardie announced the addition of Dan Rutan to his staff as the new assistant/pitching coach at DSU.
Rutan joins the DSU staff after a stint in Oakland (Mich.), a NCAA Division l institution, for two years as Director of Pitching Development. He helped that team to its two best seasons in program history as a Dl school, setting a program record for wins in 2022 (31) and followed it up last season with 29 wins. Rutan also played his collegiate baseball at Oakland (Mich.) from 2018-2021 after a successful high school career at Grove City, Ohio.
The main duties for Rutan will consist of day-to-day operations of the pitching staff, pitcher/catcher recruiting, game day operations, numerous program operations and more. Rutan will begin his stint on Monday.
