Cornbelt teams wrapped up the regular season this weekend.
Cornbelt league baseball teams wrapped up their regular season games over the weekend. The Madison Broncos closed out their league schedule with a 17-2 win in 5 innings over the Flandreau Blue Teal on Saturday. Aspen Dahl drove in 5 runs. Peyton Wolf, Dawson Bakker, Mitch McNary, and Jared Kennington each had 2 RBI.Â
On Sunday, the Gang Canova walked off Dell Rapids PBR 4-3. PBR took the early lead in the game, thanks to an RBI single from Zach Puetz. Kendall Gassman tied it up with an RBI hit in the next inning, and Jared Miller’s solo homer in the 3rd gave the Gang a one run lead. Canova added another run in the 5th to go up 3-1. Down two runs in the 9th, Tim Wilhelmsen delivered a bases loaded hit to score two and tie the game. After a single and a walk in the bottom of the 9th, it was Jack Neises who delivered a walk-off double to give Canova the win.Â
Canova improved their league record to 13-5. PBR finished the regular season at 9-9.
The Salem Cubs were walk-off winners on Sunday as well, taking down the Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks 8-7 in ten innings. Jon Forster singled in the winning run for the Cubs, who overcame a three run deficit, to win their 9th game of the year.Â
The Flandreau Cardinals defeated the Flandreau Blue Teal on Sunday, 7-0. Grant Hieb and Brian McGuire each had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Cardinals. Dallas Schneiderman picked up the win, striking out 8 over 6 innings.Â
Also Sunday, the Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks beat the Colman A’s.
