Chester Area wins Class B Championship in 5 sets
The Chester Area Flyers are Back-to-Back Class B Volleyball Champions, after defeating Warner in the title game Saturday for the 2nd year in a row. The Flyers over Castlewood and Burke earlier in the tournament, to set up Saturday’s thrilling 5 set Championship match.Â
The Monarchs raced out to a lead in the first set, picking up a 25-18 win. Chester battled back to take the 2nd set 25-23, before losing the 3rd set by the same score. The Flyers then dominated the 4th set 25-15, and then won the 5th set 15-10.
Jacy Wolf and Lilly Van Hal each had triple-doubles for Chester. Wolf finished with 25 assists, 20 kills and 15 digs. Van Hall added 25 assists, 25 digs and 19 kills. Emmerson Eppard added 10 kills and 20 digs in the win.
Van Hal and Wolf were each named to the Class B All-Tournament team.Â
Chester finished their season with a 32-2 record, and never lost a match to a South Dakota School. The Class B title was the 3rd for the Flyers in school history.
