Canova Gang shutout Madison; Mudcats down Flandreau

The Madison bats couldn’t find hits when they needed them most, and the Canova Gang beat the Broncos 6-0 at Flynn Field Thursday night. Garrett Gassman knocked in a run in the 1st to give the Gang an early lead, but Madison starter Peyton Wolf stranded two runners in the 1st to limit the damage.

Madison had similar opportunities, but couldn’t come up with hits when runners were in scoring position. Madison left two runners on base in the 1st and 2nd innings, and failed to score with the bases loaded in the 5th.

Canova’s Jared Miller hit a solo home run in the 3rd, and the Gang added three runs in the 6th, on 3 walks, 2 hit batters, and an error.

Jared Miller finished with 2 RBI for Canova. Justin Miller and Tim Gassman added RBI hits as well. Derek Miller pitched 3 innings and struck out 5 for Canova in the win. Ty Jorgenson led the Madison offense with 2 hits in 3 at bats.
