Canova doubles up Clark in 2nd round
Cole Gassman had 3 hits, and the Canova gang overcame an early deficit to beat the Clark Traders 8-4 and move on to the quarterfinals of the Class B Amatuer Baseball Tournament. Clark got on the board in the second inning with a Jeffery Paulson single that drove in two runs. Canova tied the game up the next inning on a 2 RBI hit from Derek Miller.Â
The Gang took the lead in the fifth, with run scoring hits from Miller and Gassman to go up 4-2. But this time Clark rallied to tie the game, thanks to a hit from Brent Griffith.Â
Canova then took the lead for good in the seventh, scoring 4 runs in the inning. That was enough for starter Trey Krier, who shutdown Clark the rest of the way. Krier finished the game with 4 strikeouts.Â
Derek Miller had 2 hits and 3 RBI for Canova. Jered Miller finished with 2 hits and drove in 2 runs.Â
Canova moves on to the quarterfinals on Friday. The Gang will take on Larchwood at 5:30pm Friday, on Dakota’s Best AM 1390.Â
