Bulldogs make short work of Custer in 42-16 win

The Bulldog football team left MHS at 8am on Friday, for a 6pm kick-off in Custer. By 6:30pm, the game was all but over. Madison scored three touchdowns in the 1st and 2nd quarters, and played the entire 2nd half with a running clock in a 42-16 win over the Wildcats. 

Madison’s first score came on the game’s first possession, when Braden Gust sacked and stripped the ball from Custer QB Roland Sedlacek. Tyan Braskamp picked up the fumble and returned it 37 yards for the game’s first score. Cohen Hahn would add touchdown passes to Caleb Hodges and Gerritt Van Liere in the opening quarter, as Madison led 21-0. 

Hodges and Jordan Pederson added TD runs in the 2nd quarter, and Hahn fired another touchdown to Miles Schnider for a 42-0 score. Madison pulled the starters with 5 minutes left to go in the first half, and led 42-0 at halftime. 

Hahn finished 9 of 11 for 186 yards and 3 TD’s. Schnider and Quinn Flemming each had interceptions for the Bulldogs. 

Madison improved to 2-1 with the win, while Custer fell to 0-3. The Bulldogs will host Vermillion for their homecoming game this Friday night at 7pm.
