Bulldogs Let Things Slip Away; Fall to Quarriers, 55-53
The Madison Bulldogs lose a tightly contested game on the road and fall to Dell Rapids, 55-53.
A game that was mostly wire-to-wire throughout its entirety. While it was close as a team, it was the Jack Henry show from start to finish. The win ends a four-game home skid for the Quarriers, giving them their first home victory of the year. With the loss, Madison falls to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in Region 3A.
Henry finished the game with 32 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter alone. He took tough shots and made tough shots all night long. Going up against a team such as this where a guy like Henry does the majority of the scoring, you have to make someone besides that dynamic scorer beat you. The Bulldogs failed to do that this time out.Â
For Madison, after trailing in the opening quarter, they had a second quarter burst that put them up by a pair at halftime. Scoring 22 in that second quarter, which was the highest for either team all game long.
Thomas Mechels and Myles Schneider led Madison in scoring. Both scored 10 points tonight and it was the first time either player has led the team in scoring this season.
This loss also drops Madison to a 1-2 record on the road this season. Some of the things this group did earlier this year that made them successful, they’ve gotten away from a bit. The flashes are there, but the energy and will out on the floor seems to come in spurts.
Next Game
Next up the Bulldogs turn around and play again Friday on the back end of a doubleheader against one of the top teams in the state, the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers.
