Bulldogs Break Through with a Win; Upsetting Lennox 14-8
The Madison Bulldog football team is no longer winless. Madison’s defense led the way to a 14-8 win over the Lennox Orioles on Friday.
The Bulldogs forced three turnovers in the 1st quarter. After stopping a fake punt from Lennox, Madison marched into the endzone with a 21 yard touchdown pass from Cohen Hahn to Andrew Comes.
The next Oriole drive ended with an interception by Lincoln Anderson. Madison then scored on the very next play, with a 70 yard halfback pass from Jordan Pederson to Shane Veenhof.Â
Lennox put up their only score of the game late in the second quarter, with a 54 yard touchdown pass to Porter Ihnen. From there the Bulldog defense did enough to win the game, holding Lennox scoreless in the 2nd half.Â
Hahn finished the game with 178 yards passing. Veenhof caught six passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. Eli Barger had seven receptions for 52 yards, and ran the ball 10 times for 38 yards. Thomas Mechels, Cole Klingbile, and Braxton Bjorklund each had sacks of Lennox quarterback Boston Katzer.Â
The loss was just the second of the season for a now 5-2 Lennox team. Madison improved to 1-6 on the season, and now returns home to take on the Vermillion Tanagers on Friday.
