Chris Reece ran for three touchdowns, the defense forced two turnovers, and the Madison Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 27-0 shutout of Sioux Falls Christian on Thursday night. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Reece got the Bulldogs on the board with a 23 yard TD run to give Madison a 7-0 lead. The junior running back added one more score before halftime, to put the Bulldogs up 13-0.

Madison started the 3rd quarter with another rushing score, and then broke the game open with 40 yard interception return for a touchdown by Zach Whitlock. After that, the Bulldogs began to mix in some subs and members of the JV team, while still shutting out an opponent for the first time this season.

Reece finished with 118 yards on 26 carries. Tyler Tappe threw for 135 yards, and ran for 40 as well. Mason Avery made 3 receptions for 47 yards.

Whitlock and Brock Minnaert each had an interception for the Bulldogs. Daniel Swenson had 7 tackles and a sack. Gavin Ronk had a sack to go along with his 6 tackles.

Madison finishes the regular season with a 5-4 record. The Bulldogs will be the #5 seed in 11A playoffs, and will travel to Lennox next Thursday.

Also in 11A; Austion Henry’s 2-point conversion pass to Logan Ellingson gave the Dell Rapids Quarriers a 22-21 win over Tea Area, and finished off an undefeated season for Dell Rapids. Henry and Colin Rentz combined to throw for 330 yards and 2 scores, as Dell Rapids won despite running for only 7 yards in the game.

Dell Rapids will be the #1 seed in the 11A playoffs next week, and will host #8 West Central. Tea Area will host Tri-Valley, and Dakota Valley will travel to Canton, in the other first round playoff games.
