8th Annual Ag Bowl: Game Preview – Dakota State vs Wisconsin-La Crosse

Dakota State football (0-1) is back in action tonight against Division lll opponent, Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Set to be the fist game of the season for the Eagles. They finished 2022 with a 9-2 overall record (6-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Matt Strus, head coach for the Eagles, was the Kwik Trip George Chryst Coach of the Year in the WIAC last season. He brings back a number of talented athletes and all-conference players to this year’s team.
DSU’s defense will lead the way in this contest after showing its stuff in week one, regardless of the loss. The Trojans allowed just 76 rush yards on 33 carries in week one. If the secondary can prevent a quick offensive start from the opposing team and control the tempo, it should give the offense a chance to get going.
The offensive attack has to get themselves in rhythm for the stretch of an entire game and soon. Conference play begins next week against Waldorf.
Sophomore Quarterback Brady Dannenbring, a transfer from Winona State, will get his first start of the season. He’ll replace Adin Jungers who had the job in week one.
We visited practice and coach Anderson spoke about what happened last season in the second quarter against Wisconsin-La Crosse when the Trojans gave up 35 points in the quarter…
He also spoke about the short turnaround with a Thursday game so early in the season and how that changes the preparation…
The Trojans are set to host the 8th Annual Ag Bowl at The Dan Beacom Track Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:05pm with pregame at 6:30 on Jammin Country 103.
