Dakota State University Baseball opened their NSAA 4-game set with two losses against Presentation College in Ralston, Nebraska. The Saints pulled away late for a 19-2 win in 8 innings and then held off the Trojans for a 4-3 victory to sweep the doubleheader.
Presentation led the entire way in Game #1 which was highlighted by a 10-run 8th inning. Dakota State accounted for just 9 hits with Chris Burke and Noah Hammond each collecting RBIs. Presentation mashed 3 home runs as part of their 17 total hits. Chris D’Amico pitched all 8 innings and struck out 4 batters for the Saints win.
Game #2 was an even battle until the final out as the Saints tacked on 1 run in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Presentation led 4-0 before Dakota State started their rally. The Trojans scratched across 1 run in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings before being shut down for the 13th straight loss. Marcos Alvarez was 2-for-3 and Jalen Boyd added an RBI for the Trojans in the loss.
Dakota State is now 3-25 overall and 1-15 in the NSAA heading into the final two games of the series today against Presentation. First game of the doubleheader from Orval Smith Field will be at 10am in Ralston, Nebraska.
