Steven Hegdahl, age 57, of Madison, died Friday, January 27, 2023, at his home due to natural causes.
A Celebration of Life will be 2 PM on Saturday, May 6th at Rustand Weiland Funeral Chapel. Visitation
will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Franklin Cemetery. Online register book is at

Steven James Hegdahl was born in Madison, SD, on July 20, 1965, to Bert and Darlene (Keiner) Hegdahl.
He was a life-long resident of Madison, graduating from Madison High School in 1983. He began working
at Wenk Foods in Madison after high school. After the closing of Wenk Foods, he later went to work for
Persona Signs.
He was a dedicated Vikings football and Twins baseball fan. He was an avid comic book collector and
attends Comic-Con with friends, an annual comic book convention in Sioux Falls. Some of his favorite
collectables were spiderman and superman comics. Steven loved to tell lively stories and was a child at
heart. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and great uncle. He enjoyed talking about movies and reciting
his favorite lines. He especially made sure to stay active in his loved one’s lives, by following closely with
sports, schoolings, birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings. Steven earned his place in his family’s and
friends’ hearts with his zeal for life.
Survivors include his siblings, Karen (Robert) Maxwell, Kathy (Rob) Molskness, Gary, Don, Tom, and
Brian. His niece Lindsey Maxwell of Charlotte, North Carolina and nephews, Robert Jr. of Sioux Falls and
Jason Maxwell of Madison and Greg Darlow of Rapid City. And six great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Jennifer Hegdahl.
