Roger Eugene Spilde, 71 of Arlington passed away at his home Monday, June 13, 2022 surrouned by family after a battle with cancer.  Roger’s positive outlook and faith in Jesus were an inspiration to many.

Roger was born February 21, 1951 at Lake Preston Hospital  in Lake Preston, SD to James and Velma (Vi) Spilde (Muilenburg). He Attended Badger Elementary School through 8th grade and graduated from Arlington High School in 1969. Roger held many different jobs prior to his 34 years of employment and eventual retirement in 2018 with Agropur, formerly Lake Norden Creamery and Davisco.

Roger had a gift of being able to fix anything and was always ready for a new project (even when Karen disapproved) or to help someone.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking bus trips, camping, playing cards, and being with his family and friends. He loved taking his grandkids on adventures and they will cherish those memories forever.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife Karen (Steffensen), married September 1, 1972 their 4 children: Josh (Sara), Joe (Heidi), Jesse (Holli) all of Arlington, SD. Kristi (Dave) Timm of Box Elder, SD, 13 grandchildren: Makayla (Zach), Emma, Lexy, Chance, Megan, Carly, Maiya, Levi, Jordan, Jett, Belle, Jace, Creed, and 1 great granddaughter Ivy, and 2 sisters Janette (Jeff) Nelson of Lake Preston, SD and Brenda Royer of Brookings, SD.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents James & Vi, brothers Jerry (Beans) Spilde and James Spilde, Jr. (infant), sister Janice Milton, nephew Chad Nelson, in-laws,  and several other loved ones.

Services for Mr. Spilde will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Arlington, SD with Pastor Aaron Olson officiating, burial will be in the Badger Cemetery, Badger, SD.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022 in the church.
