Roger E. Begeman, 88, of Humboldt passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 11, 2021.  Memorial mass will be held on Friday, July 16, at 10:30 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Humboldt.  Visitation with family present will be on Thursday from 5-7 pm at the church hall.

Roger Begeman was born September 26, 1932, in Canistota to Edward and Ethel (Sneider) Begeman.  He grew up near Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  On July 5, 1957, he married Margaret “Peggy” McGowan at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls.  Roger was a member of the American Legion for 39 years and a member of St Ann’s Catholic Church.  He drove the school bus for West Central for 10 years.  Roger enjoyed watching sports on TV, field work, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Roger is survived by: his children, Tom Begeman of Hartford, Kate (Patrick) Weir of Sioux Falls, Ann Begeman of Alexandria, VA, and Ed (Cindy) Begeman of Humboldt; two grandchildren, Rachel and Joe; three step grandchildren Cassy, Bryce, and Carley Krull; one great-granddaughter, Joslynn; nieces and nephews, Michael (Tammy) McDonald; Annie Cobert, Stephen Cobert, Donald Cobert, Barbara (Elliott) Wiser, Richard Cobert, Robert (Dana) Cobert, Rebecca (Kevin) Morency; and numerous other family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and sister, Shirley McDonald.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Joseph’s Cemetery at Wellington.
