Robert Stofferahn, age 87, of Madison, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Madison Regional
Health System.
Memorial service will be at 2 PM on Friday, July 7 th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clint
Thorson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Inurnment will be in St.
Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Humboldt, SD. Online register book is at www.rustandweilandfuneral.com.

Robert Neil Stofferahn was born April 29, 1936 on a farm near Humboldt, SD. He attended the local
country schools near Humboldt and Franklin. While he was serving in the US Army, he obtained his GED.
After his honorable discharge, he returned home to help his dad on the farm and he worked for other
area farmers. Robert met Sylvia McBride and were married in July 1958 and had one son before moving
to Orange County, California. In California, he worked as a carpenter for various construction companies
up to his retirement in 1993. He returned to South Dakota and lived in Madison. While living here, he
worked for Goth Electric for nine years before retiring once again but this time it was for good.
In his spare time, Robert loved to tend to his big gardens of vegetables and flowers. He also loved going
to auctions in the area and a trip to the casino once in a while.
He is survived by his partner-Barbara Viet of Madison; four sons-James (Teresa), John (Pam), Jared (Lisa)
and Jeff (Danielle) all of Utah; step-daughter-Sherie (Edward) Parker also of Utah; 11 grandchildren, 8
step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother- Roger (Geri) of Chino, CA; sister-in-law,
Nancy Stofferahn of Pine Island, MN and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother-Jerome; niece-Cynthia Stofferahn.
