Richard Niedert

Richard (Dick) O. Niedert, 91, of Salem passed away on Friday, May 8^th, 2020 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, May 12^th at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.  Visitation with family present will begin at 5 pm.  Inurnment will take place on Friday, June 5^th at 4 pm at the Canistota Cemetery.

Richard O. Niedert was born on May 24^th, 1928 on the farm where he lived all his life.  He attended grade school in Richland #2 and graduated from Salem High School.  On March 1^st, 1952 he married Jean B. Dawson, daughter of Chub and Lesseta Dawson.  He farmed all his life.  Dick enjoyed hunting and most of all dancing.  He was a member of the United Church, was on the Richland District School Board, Salem School Board, ASCS Board, NFO and the McCook County Electric Board.  Dick enjoyed hunting pheasants all his life, but most of all he liked to drive tractor.

Dick is survived by his sons, Brad, Jeff and Scott (Trudy), 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean, brother, Bill and sister, Virginia.
