Rich Caldwell, age 78, of Madison, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Avantara Nursing Home in Salem.

Richard Lewis Caldwell was born February 17, 1943, in Sioux Falls, SD to Harvey & Doris (Archer) Caldwell.  He attended school in Sioux Falls and moved to California, where he remained for the next five years.  Rich was a sheet metal fabricator for Roscoe Manufacturing for 20 years.  On June 23, 1969, he married Norma Hoover in Sioux Falls.  About five years after their marriage, the young couple decided to move back to Madison in 1974.  

Rich loved to go fishing with kids, bowling, camping and riding motorcycle.  He was a proud member of AA for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association in 1996 and the Lake County ABATE.  

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Norma of Madison; two stepsons, William “Bill” Carmody of Denver and Richard “Rick” Carmody of Mississippi; daughter, Terissa Caldwell of Madison; one granddaughter, Allyssa (Jesse) Nelson of Sioux Falls; thirteen step grandchildren and one brother, Leonard Swanson of Council Bluffs, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister in infancy; two sisters, LaVonne Soward & Shirley Monroe; brother, Keith Caldwell and his son, David.
