Pearlene Maxine Grogan, age 87, of Centerville, formerly of Carthage, went to heaven Saturday January 30, 2021. A Celebration of life service will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard.

Pearl was born September 19, 1933, South of Rockham, to John and Ada (Johnson) Reinhardt. She attended Hand County School. She married Cornelius Malachi Grogan on June 16, 1951. They farmed until 1985 then they moved to Carthage and started Carthage’s first cable business.

Her five children were her main priority and then came the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren. She loved to fish, hunt, to go bowling and snowmobiling, play bingo and cards, cook, bake, and go to rummage sales. She enjoyed refurbishing almost anything, the more complicated the better. She loved her family and friends and she undoubtedly enjoyed a good hat.!

She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Gary Grogan of De Smet, Ricky Grogan of Carthage; three daughters, Roxanne (Jeff) Leighton of Madison, Dawn Grogan of Sioux Falls, and Patty DeRaad of Centerville; one sister Lorraine Schweitzer of Waterloo IA; 13 Grandchildren, Jesse (Kendall) Olson, Cody (KJ) Leighton, Damian Leighton, Kristin (Shane) Molitor, Lindsay (Eric) Comes, Lucas (Brittany) Grogan, Ryan (Kate) Hanson, Jacob (Mirrisah) DeRaad, Joshua DeRaad, Jada DeRaad, Jack Wesche, Lee Wesche and Kelsey Brue; and

7 great-grandchildren, Alyssa G., Brooklyn, Magnolia, Alyssa H,. Kyler, Kyra and Emily.

 

She was preceded and death by her parents; one sister Iris Grogan; and brothers Leroy, Ronald, Emerald, Melvin, Donald, Floyd, and Lyle Reinhardt.
