Nicole Joy Barenklau was born on July 28, 1975 in Sioux Falls, SD, the eldest child of Jim and Lynn (Farr) Barenklau. At a young age, she was very outdoorsy and enjoyed showing her horses and hanging with friends at the pool. She graduated from Montrose High School, worked at Dakota Care, started a family, and then built her own cleaning business.  Nicole was united in marriage to Matthew Stockwell on September 14, 2002 in a beautiful outdoor wedding, which she adamant the wedding would be outside, whether rain or shine.

Nicole loved going to the river, hunting, fishing, and razor-riding in the Hills. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hanging out at the Bait Shop. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.” Nicole will be remembered as a force of nature, with her zest for life and generous heart.
