Mary Lou Peck was born August 26, 1931 in rural Lake County, South Dakota to Lester & Blanche (Hare) Peck.  In 1949, she graduated from General Beadle High School and then started to work at the Madison Hospital as a nurse’s aide.  While working there, she met Bill Doblar and they were married on June 1, 1953 and moved to a farm east of town where she remained living until last month when she moved to Bethel.

Mary had a passion for gardening, particularly with flowers and she enjoyed having animals, often keeping a few pets in or around her home. She maintained a full bird feeder and kept her bird watching books nearby. Mary appreciated spending time with her large family and participated in card games or worked on jigsaw puzzles. She valued the opportunity to watch her grandchildren grow and was pleased to see most of her great-grandchildren as well, eventually becoming a great-great-grandmother.

Mary will be greatly missed by her eight children- Mike Doblar (Mary Bauer) of Madison, Patty (David) Foley of Madison, Teresa Stitz of Madison, Steve Doblar of Blair, NE, Betsy Shoemaker of Sioux Falls, Pam (Joel) Skinner of Glenville, MN, Peggy (Lonny) Corbin of Madison and Bill (Tessie) Doblar of George West, TX; 32 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Christopher of Colorado Springs, CO and brother, Lawrence Peck of Grand Forks, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Jim and son-in-law, Jim Stitz.

Blessed be her memory.
