Joyce Williams

Joyce Williams, age 89, of Madison, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Avantara Nursing Home in Salem, SD.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 27th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel in Madison. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM on Thursday at the chapel.  A brief interment service will be held at Mineral Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeport, Iowa on Friday at 12:00 PM.  Online guestbook can be found at www.rustandweilandfuneral.com. 

Joyce Lois Cook was born November 11, 1931 in Scranton, IA to Morris & Ella Goldie (Wolfe) Cook. She graduated from Pilot Mound High School in Pilot Mound Iowa in 1948 and married Eugene Williams on Christmas Eve 1950.

Gene and Joyce moved to Madison in 1965. Joyce was an avid gardener and a voracious reader. She spent countless years working to enrich the lives of others.  She loved her family and always cherished the times they were together.  

She is survived by her five sons-Mark of Seattle, WA, Richard of Missoula, MT, Kenneth of Tuscon, AZ, Thomas of Missoula, MT and Patrick of Madison, SD; seven grandsons- Andrew, Tristan, Evan, Avery, Kane, Lucas, and Nelson; four grandaughters- Megan, Kathrine, Molly, and Samantha.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Williams; three siblings- Mary Ann Suhr, Robert Schoenfelder and Gary Schoenfelder.
