Lillian Ella Stofferahn passed away December 5, 2022 at Oakland Heights Nursing Home Oakland, Nebraska.  She was 98 years old.  Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, December 12 at Christ Lutheran Church in Salem.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Sunday at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.

Lillian (Dubbe) Stofferahn was born January 9, 1924 to Emil and Dora (Ehrich) Dubbe at Humboldt, South Dakota.  Lillian received her elementary and secondary education at Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1941.  She attended Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing and South Dakota State College school of nursing where she received a degree in Nursing Education as well as a Registered Nurse certification in 1946.

She married Donald Stofferahn on June 25, 1946 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Humboldt, SD.  Four children were born to Don and Lillian.  Lynn was born October 9, 1947; Bruce on April 3, 1951; Randy on January 4, 1954; Nancy on June 3, 1957.

Don and Lillian farmed in the Humboldt area until 1981 when they retired and moved to Salem, South Dakota.  Lillian had an active career, working as a registered nurse  at various nursing homes, the school nurse for West Central school district as well as a substitute bus driver for the school district for a short time.  She served on the church council for St. Paul’s Lutheran church as well as church organist for St. Paul’s and Christ Lutheran church in Salem.  She was active in several other church groups.  Lillian was most recently a resident of Oakland Heights nursing home in Oakland, Nebraska.  Lillian enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially family reunions and holidays.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Don, daughter Nancy, grandson Joshua, daughter in law Janet Stofferahn, her parents Emil and Dora Dubbe, brothers Clarence, Elmer, Lawrence, Everett (Bud) and sisters Mable, Emily, Marie, and Dorothe.  She is survived by sons Lynn (Carole) Stofferahn; Bruce (Jane) Stofferahn; Randy (Lori) Stofferahn, 11 grand children, 26 great grand children and 3 great great grand children.  She is also survived by brothers Don Dubbe, Sturgis, SD; Bob  (Nona) Dubbe Stedman, NC; Brother and sister in law Rudy and Lois Anderson, Custer, SD; Brother and sister in law Ken and Diane Stofferahn, Lincoln, NE; Sister in law Lois Stofferahn Sioux Falls, SD;  and numerous nieces and nephews.
