Lila June Kostboth

Lila June Kostboth, 100, of Fremont, NE, formerly of Canistota, SD, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her home under hospice care.  Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Saturday, September 7 at Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota. Visitation with family present will begin at 10 am.  Burial will follow the service at the Canistota Cemetery.

Lila June Gortmaker was born on June 11, 1924 to Edward and Nellie (Viet) Gortmaker in Parker, SD and grew up in the Monroe area.  She married Calvin Kostboth on April 28, 1948 in Vermillion, SD.  Lila was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota, where she was very active, helping with quilting, bible studies and funeral lunches.  She enjoyed playing bingo and other games and especially loved visiting with family and friends.

Lila is survived by: her son, Steve (Betty) Kostboth and daughter-in-law, Marsha Kostboth; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin, son, Norman, one brother, Bud and three sisters, Kathleen, Betty and Nelda.
