LaMarne Krueger, 96, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Sanford Centennial Cottage Hospice in Sioux Falls.  Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.  Visitation will begin at 5 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm on Friday at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.  LaMarne Krueger was born on November 24, 1923 in Mitchell, SD to Ellis and Mary (Williams) Higgins.  She graduated from Stickney High School and attended nursing school at Dakota Wesleyan.  She then worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital in Mitchell.  LaMarne married Elmer Krueger on February 27, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD.  The family farmed near Spencer all their lives.  LaMarne moved to Grandview Assisted Living in Bridgewater in 2017.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, bird-watching, baking cookies, doing jig-saw puzzles and word searches, reading books, journaling and looking at pictures on her I-Pad of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grandma Great” or “GG”. She enjoyed coffee time around the kitchen table with friends and family and treasured the memories made on trips to the Hills and Yankton with family, especially the grandchildren. LaMarne is survived by:  her son, Richard (Marcia) of Spencer; daughters, Marilyn (Lonnie) Johnson of Arlington, Lois (Bruce) Swanson of Sioux Falls, Mary Jo (Steve) Norfolk of Sioux Falls and Joan (Dan) Ehlke of Canova; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Sharon (Mel) Cordani, of Litchfield, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Elmer.
