Gloria K. Rotert, 89, of Salem passed away at Avantara Salem on Thursday, February 20, 2020.  Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, February 24, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem.  Visitation will begin at 2:30 pm on Sunday with a 3 pm rosary at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem and will resume at 6 pm with a 7 pm prayer service at the church.

Gloria Spader was born December 27, 1930 to Leo and Helen (Smith) Spader in Howard, SD.  She grew up in Howard and graduated from St. Agatha High School.  On February 5, 1952 she married Gene Rotert.  They lived and farmed near Salem where they raised their two boys, Bob and Bill.  Gloria worked as a substitute cook at Salem/McCook Central School as well as a waitress at the Cookie Jar in Salem for many years.  Gene passed away in 2016.

Gloria was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mother’s, Altar Society, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.  She loved to play cards and attending her grandchildren’s events.

Gloria is survived by: her sons, Bob (Carmen) and Bill (Teresa) all of Salem; grandchildren, Kristin, Brad, Jamie (Brenda), Scott (Diana), and Joey (Jackie); great-grandchildren, Cain, Will, Abby, Issac, Maci, and Haylee; brothers, Jim (Charlotte) Spader and Russell (Twila) Spader; a sister, Bonnie Burmeister; a sister-in-law, Sheri Spader; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, a granddaughter, Holly, her parents, two brothers, Hugh and Dick, and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Neises and Bud Burmeister.
