Gerald Mead, 53, of Salem passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at his home.  A private family funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 14 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. The service will be livestreamed and a link will be posted on Gerald’s obituary at www.kinzleyfh.com at the time of the service.   Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.  If you’d like to join the family for the burial service, please be to the cemetery by 11 am.  Visitation with family present will begin at 5 pm on Wednesday with a prayer service to begin at 7pm.Gerald Franklin Mead was born on June 1, 1966 to Gerald Oren and Patricia (Quick) Mead in Minneapolis, MN.  The family eventually moved to Salem, where Gerald met Rhonda Weber.  The two were married on September 17, 1994 at St. Mary’s Church in Salem.   Gerald served in the US Navy from 1986 – 1990.  Gerald worked at Sabers Oil, John Morrell for 17 years and eventually at G & R Controls for the last 8 years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his collection of sports cards and memorabilia.  He especially loved camping with his kids and grandkids.Gerald is survived by:  his wife, Rhonda of Salem; children, Amanda (Donn) VanOverschelde and their children, Nikki, Robert and Thomas Hughes of Mitchell, Trevor (Megan) Mead and their children, Blaze and Raeleigh of Winner, Heather (Curtis) Plueger of Tea, and Kelli (Dustin) Emmett and their daughter, Rosalie of Salem; sisters, Deborah (Robert) Slinkman of Anoka, MN, Tamorah Mead of Salem, Kathryn Richardson (Todd Strong) of Branson, MO; mother-in-law, Rosalie Weber and brother-in-law, Ron (Kelly) Weber, all of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and father-in-law, Ray Weber.
