Frank N. Schaefer, 62, of Montrose passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 5, 2022.  Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Montrose.  Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.

Frank Schaefer was born May 30, 1959 to Nicholas and Marie (Murphy) Schaefer in Sioux Falls, SD.  He grew up in the Montrose area and graduated from Montrose High School.  On April 25, 1981 he married Joan Healy at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Montrose.  This union was blessed with four beautiful children, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Mary and Maria.  He lived his entire life near Montrose where he farmed.

Frank was an incredibly funny man who had a quick wit and could make anyone laugh. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan and loved watching the games in HIS stool at the baitshop. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing at his family gravel pit. Frank especially loved playing cards and spending time with his each of his wonderful children and two special grandchildren. He could often be found cruising the backroads with the windows down in his old Ford pickups.

Frank is survived by: his wife, Joan; children, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Mary and Maria Schaefer; grandchildren, Journey and Wayland Schaefer; his other special mother, Mary Healy; and the entire Healy family.

He is also survived by his siblings, Carol (Frank) Guenther, Debbie (Steve) Griffith, Dorothy Druley, Rita Schaefer and Janet (Mike) Klein; sister-in-law, Patty Schaefer; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Marie, father-in-law, Bob Healy, Mary Ellen and Mike Myers, Judy and Chuck Storevik, John Schaefer, and Joel Druley.
