Elaine Olson
Elaine Olson, age 81, of Madison, passed away at Peaceful Pines Senior Living, Madison on Monday, June 17, 2024 after a battle with cancer.
Memorial service will be 11 AM on Tuesday, July 9th at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Lindley officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Monday, July 8th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Elaine Faye Gackle was born to Ervin & Ruby (Mogck) Gackle on February 22, 1943. She grew up on a farm near Kulm, ND & graduated from Kulm High School in 1961. She attended beauty school in Aberdeen, SD. She worked at Country Beauty Salon in Grand Forks, ND. While there she met George Olson, and they were married June 1, 1963. Together they had three sons.
George & Elaine lived in Jamestown, ND where Elaine worked at Loraine’s Beauty Salon. From there they moved to Lisbon, ND when George took a position with Melroe. This position took them to Bismarck, ND, Sauk Centre, MN then to Madison, SD where Elaine worked for Wohlenberg Accounting Firm as an assistant. Their final move with the company was to Greenwood, IN until 1999 when they retired to Sioux Falls, SD. In 2023, Elaine moved to Peaceful Pines in Madison, SD. The family would like to thank the staff at Peaceful Pines for their loving care in her final days.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her in-laws; a brother, Earl & several brothers/sisters-in-law.
Elaine is survived by her three sons, Timothy (Tracy) Olson of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Olson of Savage, MN, and Mark (Heather) Olson of Madison, SD along with her six grandchildren Grace, Sam, Mya, Carter, Jack, and Madaly. She is also survived by her siblings, Gerry (Arlene) Gackle, Keith Gackle, Joyce (Gerry) Gerlach & Steve (Rhonda) Gackle and several brothers/sisters-in-law.
She wanted to pass along this reminder from her mother, Ruby – always love one another.
