Eileen Hudson

Eileen Hudson, age 75, of Madison, died on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, December 27th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Anthony Urban as the Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Sunday, December 26th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM and a Rosary to follow. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30-10:15 AM at the funeral chapel followed by procession to the church for mass. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Eileen Joyce Klitzke was born in Huron, SD on October 25, 1946, to Alvin & Ethel (Meyer) Klitzke. She graduated from Lane High School in 1964. She met Donald Hudson and were married October 20, 1967. Eileen taught accordion and piano lessons until having children. She raised her children until they were old enough to go to school. Eileen went back to work in the school lunch program in various locations until her retirement. She was proud of being President of the South Dakota Food Service Association.

Eileen stayed busy keeping up with her children and grandchildren by attending the many activities they were involved in. She also loved to travel with Don, and they went to Rome, London, Italy and Australia. While they were in Rome, one of her highlights was seeing the Pope.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Mike) Thomas and their children, Jacob & Emily of Sioux Falls; son, Michael & Amy Hudson and their children, Madysen & Elijah of Pierre, SD; son, Shawn (Roberta) Hudson and their children, Hailey & Samuel of Pierre, SD; two sisters, Janece Wetzel of Wessington Springs, SD and Marvla (Vollie) Elias of Whitewood, SD; any many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, & step-grandchildren.
