Douglas Nold, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 12 at Madison United Methodist Church with Pastor Kirby Oaks officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Private family inurnment will be in Colton Cemetery. Online guest book at www.rustandweilandfuneral.com. Arrangements are entrusted with Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel.Â

Douglas James Nold was born March 30, 1951 and was raised in Parker, SD. He was later then adopted by Robert and Eleanor (Potas) Nold. He graduated from Parker High School in 1969. Then he attended Dakota State College and graduated with his bachelor’s degree.Â
He met the love of his life, Cindy Emery, and they were married on September 4, 1970 in Parker, SD. He began working at K-Mart and Moorman Feed. In 1986, He began working as a swine specialist with Pfizer. While working for Pfizer, his job required him to travel. Cindy was able to accompany him on many trips to countries around the world. In 2006, Doug started working for Boehringer Engelheim as a swine specialist and worked with them until his retirement in 2017.
Doug enjoyed the outdoors and would often use his spare time hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching wildlife. He also loved to do yard work, spending time in the Black Hills and watching Fox News. Even though he was retired Doug would often be on the phone with his former work colleagues and customers. Nothing was more important to Doug than his family, he especially enjoyed the family gatherings and overnights with his grandkids.
Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cindy of Madison, SD; son-Carter (Jeanie) Nold of Brookings and their children-Elly and Julia; daughter-Misty (Kevin) Kanta of Sioux Falls and their children-Gabe & Kennady; daughter-Tambi (Ben) White of Sioux Falls and their children-Presli, Irelynn & Averyl; daughter-Brendee (Pete) Sterbick of Arvada, CO and their children-Bree & Cael.
