Douglas Lyle Josephsen, 62, of Arlington, SD passed away on April 2, 2021 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD after a long battle due to complications from a Covid-19 diagnosis. Prior to this Doug battled and overcame three cancer diagnoses.
Doug was born in Volga, South Dakota on November 5, 1958 to Lyle and Fern Josephsen. He attended school in Arlington and graduated in 1977. He was the valedictorian of his class. After graduating high school, he went on to attend Mitchell Technical College and studied business. Following that he chose to move to Sioux Falls to continue his education in accounting during the day and worked part time in the evenings. He then moved back to Arlington, where he started at 3M in Brookings for a short time and then transitioned to Coast to Coast where he spent 22 years of his professional career until they closed. Doug’s desire to help people then landed him at Payday Loans for a few years and most recently a part time position at Royal Plastics in Brookings. Doug’s pride and precision made him a great employee.
Doug loved Arlington and life in the small town. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with his family and close friends. He was a social butterfly that looked forward to his Friday and Saturday evenings out on the town or at the lake. Doug really appreciated the visits, cards, texts, phone calls and kind thoughts that were sent his way during his time in the hospital.
Doug is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Bob Breeschoten of Prior Lake, MN and brother Gary Josephsen of West Fargo, ND. Nieces and nephews Travis Breeschoten of Kimball, SD, Tanya Williams of Lakeville, MN, Darin (Christine) Josephsen of West Fargo, ND, Daric Breeschoten of Lonsdale, MN, and Dustin (Amber) Josephsen of West Fargo, ND.
