Dennis Grocott

Dennis “Monk” Grocott, 82, of Humboldt passed away of natural causes on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his home.  Private family services will be held.

Dennis Grocott was born on March 24, 1939 to Thomas and Lillian (Paulson) Grocott near Humboldt, SD.  He graduated from Humboldt High School and married Donna Munce at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Humboldt on June 20, 1957.  They lived in Humboldt all their lives.  After farming for several years, Monk began working construction.  He was on the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department.  Monk enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting, but most of all loved spending time with his grandkids.

Monk is survived by:  his children, Denise (Jeff) DeBates of Montrose, Dan (Joni) Grocott of Montrose, Dee (Al) Grode of Sioux Falls, and Tom (Tom Michalisko) of Alexandria, VA; 8 grandchildren, Crystal, Chad, Jon, Cole, Denny, Kyle, Beau, and Brittany; 11 great-grandchildren, Ali, Ashley, Kaya, Zach, Harper, Emma, Cain, Grady, Emmett, Andre and Amiya; siblings, Lois Stofferahn of Sioux Falls and Winston “Mick” (Elena) Grocott of Cape Coral, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his parents, an infant daughter, Tammy Jo, son, David Lynn, grandson Joseph, and siblings, Elsie “Sally”, Gladys, Betty “Sis”, Linda, Glenn “Bud”, Eugene “Sonny” and Don “Pete”.
