Colleen Johns

Colleen L. Johns, 78, of Canistota passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Avantara-Salem in Salem, SD.  According to Colleen’s wishes, no services will be held.

Colleen Cunningham was born April 16, 1942 in Hayward, CA to Robert and Adaline (O’Dell) Cunningham.  She grew up in Hayward and graduated from Hayward High School.  On July 23, 1960 she married Robert Johns in Hayward CA.  She stayed home to raise her family and also worked several part-time jobs when she was able.

Colleen enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, taekwondo, and her pool league.  She especially loved tending to her horses and training hunting dogs.

Colleen is survived by her children, Mike (Shannon) Johns of Canistota and Kate (Dave) Miller of Mitchell; grandchildren Rebecca (Michael) Hobbs of Alaska and Aidan and Julia Miller of Mitchell; siblings-in-law Greg (Sheila) Johns of Sioux City IA and Mavis (Michael) Hall of Plattsmouth NE and aunt Shirley Andros of Phoenix AZ.  She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband, Robert, in 2019.
