Colleen Freeny
Colleen Freeny, age 88, of Madison, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Memorial service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, October 18th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with visitation one hour to the service. Inurnment will be in St. Williams Cemetery, Ramona.
Colleen Ann Dooley was born June 6, 1936 in Ramona, South Dakota to William & Mary (Sweeney) Dooley. She graduated from Ramona High School. She married Verle “Bill” Struwe and to this union four children were born. They moved to California and lived in Bakersfield for many years. She later married Homer “Mike” Freeny while living in California. Colleen worked as a x-ray technician for many years and was very proud of the fact that she was one of the very first group of x-ray technicians to be trained in ultrasound. Just over nine years ago, she moved back to South Dakota and eventually ended up returning to Madison. Shortly after she returned, she owned and operated the Moonlite for a few years.
She is survived by her son-Steve (Cecile) of Gardnerville, NV, son-Dan (Lynne) of Vallejo, CA and son-Mark (Tammy) of Howard, SD; ten grandchildren & eight great-grandchildren; one brother-Dave (Lyla) Dooley; two sisters-in-law-Carol Dooley and Vera Dooley; two brothers-in-law-Gordon Krantz and Ron Tolley and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; ex-husband-Bill Struwe; daughter-Shannon Struwe; four sisters and two brothers.
