Charles Roberts

Charles Roberts, 74, of Spencer passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2021 at his residence in Spencer.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Charles Roberts was born on October 16, 1946 in Jackson, MI to Lester and Harriet (Green) Roberts. On March 1, 1969 he married Marguerite Sanford in Jackson.  The family moved to South Dakota in 1983 and together, Chuck and Sam owned and operated Spencer Automotive in Spencer, SD.  The business was destroyed by the tornado in 1998, but they rebuilt and ran it into the early 2000’s.  He was a member of the Spencer Volunteer Fire Department and was fire chief for many years, loved fixing and working on cars and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Chuck is survived by:   his children, Darlene Roberts of Sioux Falls and Greg (Gail) Roberts of Spencer; grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly and Katie Roberts; and great-grandchildren, Murphy, Cynthia, Michael Jr., Annabelle and Kase.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite “Sam”, his great-granddaughter, one brother, Doug and his parents.
