Cecile Binkerd

Cecile Binkerd, 89, of Sioux Falls peacefully passed away January 20, 2021 at her home under hospice care.  A Celebration of her life will be January 30^th, 2021 between 1 and 5 at 106 N Western Ave in Hartford.

Cecile Crippen was born June 13, 1931 in O’Neill, NE to Lloyd and Hallie (Meeker) Crippen.  She married Nyle Binkerd and they were blessed with 8 children.

Cecile drove school bus for 39 years for West Central School in Hartford.  She also was mayor of Hartford for one term and served as Hartford finance officer for 9 years.  After the Spencer tornado in 1998 she was appointed by Governor Bill Janklow to serve as the temporary finance officer for Spencer.

Cecile is survived by: her children, Rory (Rozanne) Binkerd, Sioux Falls, SD, Toni Binkerd, Sioux Falls, SD, Kevin Binkerd, Madison, SD, Kent (Sue) Binkerd, Crooks, SD, Dennis (Flo Bowden), Crooks, SD, Danna Deters, Sioux Falls, SD, Billy (Darcy) Binkerd, Sioux Falls, SD, Jim Binkerd, Hartford, SD; 20 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, and sister Gladys Stewart, Spring Valley, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers (Dan, Bill and Lloyd Crippen) and 1 Grandchild (Hannah Binkerd).
