Carol Ann (Sapp) Grove was born July 22, 1939, on a farm southwest of Oldham, SD to Ralph and Ruth (Sawvell) Sapp. Carol was raised three miles from that farm on the southeast corner of Lake Thompson when it was a dry lake. She attended country schools through 8th grade and graduated Salutatorian of the 1957 class of Oldham High School. She married Lyle Grove May 25, 1957. They had six children Janell, Charlene, Debra, Jeffrey, Darla and Amy Jo.

Carol worked at Rafferty Robbins Drug in Howard for 30 years and served on the Belleview Lutheran Church Council and the WELCA. She supported her husband’s love of music by playing drums for their band for 21 years. Carol loved to read and work crossword puzzles. If she was reading a good book everything else had to wait. She hosted innumerable family gatherings and was gifted at making friends and being a friend, using those skills as a member of the Miner County Mentoring Board. She will be remembered for her blueberry rhubarb jam that she loved to share with others.

Carol is survived by her husband of 64 years Lyle, daughters Janell (Terry) Milton, Debra (James) Roddel, Darla (Arlyn) Adolphsen, Amy Jo (Tom) Remmele, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a brother Darrell, and sister-in-law Illa Berg.

She was preceded in death, by two children Charlene and Jeffrey, her parents, her brothers Roger, Allen, Delbert, and her sisters Velma Johnson, Betty Groce, Dorothy Groce.

Funeral services will be 2pm, Monday, June 14, 2021, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Howard with burial to follow in Belleview Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Howard. Visitation will be Sunday from 4pm to 6pm with Prayers and Reflections at 6pm, all at Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard.
