Avon “Vonnie” Anderberg, age 82, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Madison, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, FL.

Avon Lee Lofswold was born and raised in Sioux Falls SD. She attended grade school at Hawthorne Elementary in Sioux Falls and then graduated from Lyons High School in May 1958. She then graduated from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1960.  Vonnie married Lester Anderberg and had four children together.  While her children were growing up, she served as Room Mother, Cub Scout leader and Camp Fire Girls leader.  She returned to Michigan State University and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She later graduated from Dakota State university’s Health Information Tech program. Over time, she worked ICU, ER, medical and surgical floors, nursing administration, dialysis, and pediatric clinics. All of her nursing experiences were highly treasured, but the most special were working for the Navy at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Makalapa Clinic, and Navajo Indian Health Service in New Mexico and Arizona. Also, she greatly enjoyed working with college students in Student Health at Dakota State University.  Lastly, she worked at the Domestic Violence shelter in Madison, SD, and greatly appreciated that experience.

Vonnie is survived by her 4 children- Anne Anderson of Springdale AR, Andrew Anderberg of Battle Creek, MI; Sonya (Steve) Putlack of Boynton Beach, FL and Todd Anderberg of Ramona, SD; she is also survived by her very treasured granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Putlack of Boynton Beach, FL; 2 brothers, Larry Lofswold and his son, Ryan; Curtis (Cheryl) Lofswold and their daughters, Shannon (Dave) and Erin Koneckne (Fred) and their children Brayden and Adalee; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Anderberg and his children, Carol & Ross and Roger (Dawn) Anderberg and their sons, Rodney (Denise) and Rick (Diane); sister-in-law, Ina Anderberg and her sons, Kevin (TJ) and Keith.

Memorial services will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 23rd at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements are entrusted with Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Les in 2008; paternal & maternal grandparents and sister Darla Woods.
