Adelyne Stearns, age 99, of Garfield, AR, formerly Madison, passed away at her daughter’s home on Sunday, September 22, 2024 while under hospice care.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Lindley officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Friday at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. We will livestream the funeral the funeral chapel Facebook page starting at 10:20 AM.

Adelyne Antoinette Anderson was born May 26, 1925 in Sioux City, IA to Arthur & Ruth (Hawkinson) Anderson. In 1936, she moved to Madison at the age of 10. She graduated from Madison High School in 1943. Adelyne was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell, which changed to US West, then to Quest and finally retiring in 1981 from Century Link at the age of 55 with 36 years of service. After retirement, she worked for the Madison Police Department as a dispatcher for six years.
She loved to go bowling and was inducted into the SD Bowling Hall of Fame in 2021. Adelyne loved to read and was the neighborhood Christmas Cookie baker. She is a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.
Adelyne is survived by her five children-Debra (Gary) Reinicke of Madison, SD, Donald (Marion) Stearns of Colorado Springs, CO, Denise (Richard) Langner of Zimmerman, MN, Dorrie (Mitch) Wilson of Sioux City, IA and Darcie (Roger) Heinrich of Garfield, AR; nine grandchildren-Traci Reinicke (Josh Maag), JD Reinicke (Jessy Gosmire), Kristen Stearns, Beau (Cassie) Langner, Mitch (Patti) Langner, Ashley (Tyler) Singer, Jeremiah Wilson, Nathan Heinrich and Sarah (Josh) Button; nine great-grandchildren-Donavon Brady, Molly & Maggie Langner, Arabella & Everly Langner, Bennett Singer, Reed & Avery Button and Rileigh Foster; sister-in-law-Nedra Anderson; brothers-in-law-Richard Stearns & Richard Anderson and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; infant sister-Jeannette Elvina Anderson; son-in-law-Greg Sievers.
