Trojan Nights Concert celebrates the new Beacom Premier Complex
Thousands of people gathered last night at the new Brian Kern Family Stadium at the Beacom Premier Complex, for Trojan Nights Concert in Madison. The concert, which included Elle King, Brother’s Osborn, and Old Dominion, was a celebration for the new 41-million dollar athletics complex.
The complex, which includes the new Blankley Field, will house locker rooms, weight and training rooms, and coaches offices. DSU President Dr. Jose-Marie Griffiths says the second floor of the facility was designed to be used in a number of different ways.Â
The Beacom Premier Complex is the first new athletic facility at DSU since the Fieldhouse was built in 1960. When she was first approached about the need for an upgrade, Griffiths says she challenged the athletics department to bring students on campus who would focus their academics in a variety of programs.Â
Alumnus Miles Beacom who, along with his wife, have made numerous financial donations to academic, athletic, and research facilities on campus, credited President Griffiths vision for the construction boom at DSU over the past decade.Â
The Trojan football team will take on Dakota Wesleyan University this Thursday, in the first game on the new Blankley Field. Thursday’s Ag Bowl begins at 7pm, and can be heard on Jammin’ Country 103.1 FM.
