State sees increase in positive COVID-19 cases in past month

The daily number of new positive COVID-19 cases in the state dipped some on Tuesday to 80 after several days of triple-digit numbers reported by the state Department of Health. With the steady rise in positive cases, the number of active cases has hit a record level – increasing to more than 15-hundred statewide.  State Epidemiologist Dr. Joshua Clayton said the state has seen larger increases for the past month.

State Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon said that the state continues to watch the rates of hospitalization.

Malsam-Rysdon said the state’s level of recovery has been very strong.

On Tuesday, the state reported that more than 98-hundred of the positive cases had been reported as recovered out of the total of just more than 11-thousand-500 cases in the state.Â
