Not guilty plea entered for man accused of June theft in Madison
One of two men who were arrested after a June theft and a civilian pursuit, pleaded not guilty to a number of charges in Lake County Circuit court on Tuesday.Â
Bryce Robert Taylor is charged with Grand Theft, Criminal Entry of a Motor Vehicle, Intentional Damage to Property, Driving with a Revoked License, and Reckless Driving. He is also charged with being a Habitual Offender.
Bryce Taylor was arrested June 9th, along with Robert James Taylor.Â
On Sunday June 9th at approximately 9:08am, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft from a business located on the west side of Madison.Â
According to the Lake County Sheriff office, while law enforcement was enroute to that location, Lake County Communications received a 911 call reporting that an employee of that business had observed the stolen property in an unknown vehicle that was hauling a trailer loaded with another vehicle.Â
The employee and owner of the business attempted to intercept the vehicle and stop it. The business owner’s vehicle was struck in the process of doing so.Â
The vehicles continued to SW 1st Street in Madison where the victim was able to strike the fleeing vehicle, and forced it to come to a stop at the intersection of Ramm Heights. The driver then backed a vehicle off a trailer they were towing and attempted to flee the scene. The victim was able to keep both occupants on the scene until law enforcement arrived.Â
Bryce Taylor is next due in court on November 19th for a motions hearing, with a jury trial scheduled for early December.
