New Board Members Take Oath at Annual School Board Meeting

The Madison Central School Board held its Annual Meeting on Monday night. New board members Joel Van Batavia and Melanie Argo were both sworn in for their 1 year terms. Lori Shultz was reelected by the board as President, and Steve Nelson as Vice President. 

The board accepted the retirement requests of Stan Fods as Director of Transportation, effective January 3rd of 2025, and Jean Hagg as Custodian, effective July 5th of this year. 

The board also approved the hiring of Deion Cross as a custodian and Nina Maloney as a Certified Title Tutor. Other personal action included the addition of Nicole Selgestad to assistant volleyball coach, replacing Katie Weeldreyer. 

Also Monday, Superintendent Joel Jorgenson highlighted some big dates coming soon on the calendar. 


Other actions taken Monday by the school board included continuing to join the Emergency School Bus Assistance Pact, approving the publication of staff salaries, and approval of the Health Insurance Committee health rate recommendation. Also approved was the bussing proposals from ORR and Chester School Districts, which Jorgenson said would be the same as previous years.
