Madison School board looks at design for Middle School renovation
The Madison Central School Board heard a facilities presentation from Jacob Ricke of JLG Architects on Monday, during their regular board meeting. The district has been working with JLG for nearly a year, identifying district facilities that were in need of repair, renovation, or replacement.Â
One of the main areas of concern is the front entrance of the Madison Middle School, including the elevation change from the parking lot to the entrance. JLG’s plan is to expand to the east, the parking and drop off lane in front of the Middle School. That expanded lane would extend east through the end of the block. Ricke also addressed the outside stairs that go down to the front of the Middle School.Â
The expanded front would include a new reception area, meeting room, and principals office.Â
Other improvements would include classroom updates, and a redesign of the space in the center of the building where offices and a teachers lounge is, as well as what was originally the Middle School Library. There is also potential for an addition of classrooms built to the southeast corner of the building.Â
The next step for the board will be to determine what portions of the presentation they want to proceed with. They are also in the process of hiring a construction manager for the project.
