Lake Co. Declares Emergency/Disaster Due to Flooding
The Lake County Commission approved a resolution declaring an Emergency/Disaster, during their meeting on Tuesday. Lake County Emergency Management Director Kody Keefer appeared before the Lake County Commission on Tuesday, asking the commission to declare a disaster after last month’s flooding. Keefer said there was significant public, residential ,and commercial damage in the county, He said so far the estimate for damage is over $500,000. Keffer says most of the damage is reported in the southern most townships. Final numbers must be submitted by July 12th.Â
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the commission approved an application for a public fireworks display as part of Village Creek Days in Chester, on July 27th. Commissioners also approved the sale of two vehicles from the Sheriff’s office, and acknowledged the FEMA Final Flood Hazard Determination letter.
