HOBY students bringing Alex’s Lemonade Stands to Madison this Saturday

High School Students from across South Dakota are in Madison this weekend for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar, hosted at Dakota State University. HOBY South Dakota Director of Public Relations, Alison Logue (Low-g) says the organization aims to build many leadership skills in youth.

One of the events this weekend will be the HOBY students hosting Alex’s Lemonade stands. Alex’s Lemonade was founded by Alexandra Scott in 2000, when she was just 4 years old, as a way to raise money for childhood cancer research. By the time of Scott’s death in 2004, her lemonade stands had raised over 1 million dollars.

Logue says the global mission of Alex’s Lemonade Stands is a perfect event for HOBY students.

Alex’s lemonade stands will be set up from 11am-1pm, this Saturday, in  front of KJAM Radio, Sunshine Foods, and the Dairy Queen.
